CARTER
METAIRIE – Agnes D. Carter, 94, a native of Paulina and resident of Metairie for 45 years, died Jan. 18. She was the wife of the late Oscar Carter and mother of the late Dorothy McCoy and Roland, Julius and Leroy Carter.
She was the sister of Beulah Blount and Theresa Heltz.
She is survived by three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and was preceded in death by one grandchild.
She was a hardware store owner.
Services were Jan. 24 at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, Metairie, with interment at Garden of Memories, Metairie.
CRAIGHEAD
GARYVILLE – Howard Craighead Sr., 57, a native and resident of Garyville, died Jan. 17.
He was the husband of Karen James Craighead and father of Ebonee, Romalish and the late Howard Craighead Jr.
He was the son of the late Robert and Roseanne Craighead and brother of Willie Mae Joseph, Dorothy Mae Howard, Glendora Warren and Edward Sr., the Rev. Robert Jr., the Rev. Erwin and Barbara Craighead.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are today at noon at Greater New Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Garyville, with interment at Bethlehem Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
DABNEY
LULING – Deloyd Dabney Jr., 43, a native and resident of St. Rose, died Jan. 18.
He was the father of Michael Clay, Deidre Barrow and Deloyd III and Dameion Dabney.
He was the son of Alverda Dabney and the brother of Irene Lane, Beverly Gillian, Renee Zeringue, Sharon Grows and Larry, the Rev. Renard and Shelita Dabney.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Baptist Church, Luling, with interment at Providence Memorial Park, Metairie.
DENNIS
RESERVE – Nel rita Louise Marcel “Nell” Dennis, 36, a native and resident of Reserve, died Jan. 14. She was the mother of Jeremy and Aston Fleming.
She was the daughter of the late Clarence “Texas” and Vivian Linton Dennis.
She is also survived by five grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 22 at New Pilgrim Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.
DICKEY
RESERVE – Mack Dickey, 41, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Jan. 17. He was the father of Mack Gardner.
He was the son of the late Alfred Dickey and Ida Mae Tassin and brother of Sheila Anderson, Nelson Watkins, Wayne Felton and Robert Dickey.
Services were Jan. 24 in the chapel of Hobson Brown Funeral Home, Garyville, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.
DUFOUR
SPRINGFIELD – Terry Joseph Dufour, 57, a native of Plaucheville and resident of Ponchatoula, died Jan. 20.
He was the husband of Diane McEntee Dufour and father of Shawn Messina and Danielle Folks.
He was the son of the late Daniel and Lula Mae Dufour and brother of Darrell, Rickie, Troy and the late Medaris Dufour.
He is also survied by three grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 23 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Springfield.
DUHE
PAULINA – Kenneth Joseph Duhe, 86, a native of Lutcher and resident of Loranger, died Jan. 20. He was the husband of Myrtle Reid Duhe and father of Dian Goodyear.
He was the son of the late Claude and Electa Borne Duhe; brother of Doris Kollman, Electa Copponex, Gertie Millet, Betty Oswald, Julia Sanchez, Elva Gagliano, Milton Duhe and the late Odelia Louque and Kramer, Norman, Allen, Lester and Claude “C.J.” Duhe; and stepbrother of Alice Copponex.
He is also survived by one grandchild.
Services were Jan. 23 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment at
KADAK
DES ALLEMANDS – Hazel JoAnn Kadak, 32, a native of New Orleans and resident of Des Allemands for seven years, died Jan. 17. She was the companion of Philip Comardelle and mother of Brandy and Brandon Kadak.
She was the daughter of Joseph Kadak Jr. and Katherine Mehrhoff; stepdaughter of David Mehrhoff; and sister of Marietta Oubre, Lana Watson, Anna Duplessis, Sheri Ashton and Barry, Michael and Joseph Kadak III.
She was a cashier at Lucky Seven Truck Stop.
Graveside services were Jan. 20 at Monnonite Cemetery, Des Allemands.
LEE
BOUTTE – Malven Franklin Lee Jr., 52, a native of Japan and resident of Luling, died Jan. 21. He was the husband of Mary Warren Lee and father of Yvonne Darensbourg and Malven III and PFC Scott and the late Andrew Lee.
He was the son of Mary Peters Lee and the late Malven Lee Sr. and brother of James, Steven and the late Charlie Lee.
He is also survived by two grandchildren.
He was a senior technician at Waterford 3 power plant.
Services were Jan. 24 at West St. Charles Baptist Church, Boutte, with interment at Mt. Airy Cemetery, Boutte.
MASON
RESERVE – Louis Mason, 70, a native of Reserve and resident of Lutcher, died Jan. 18. He was the husband of Hattie Meredith Mason; father of Karen Banks, Pamela Lennix, Verenise Simoneaux and Kim Parquet; adopted father of Allen, Warren and TaShana Mason; and foster-father of Nasha Wilson and Charles and James Jones.
He was the brother of Audrey Grover and Jo-Ann, Roland, Henry, Royal, Raymond, Michael, Alvin, Alexander, Peter Jr. and Adam Mason.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services are today at noon at Beechgrove Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
MOORE
BATON ROUGE – Vivian Percy Moore, 71, a native of Edgard and resident of Baton Rouge, died Jan. 15. She was the wife of Russell Moore and mother of Wanda Bennett, Carol Potts and Freddie and Thomas Moore Jr.
She was the daughter of the late Will and Eva Percy and sister of Wynell Williams, Will and Kanod Percy and the late Jessie Whitehead, Velma Warren and Thelma Collins.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was the retired owner of Vivian’s Women Apparel in Baton Rouge.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, with interment at Gilbert Memorial Park. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
PAXTON
LAPLACE – Nathan “Joe Nathan” Paxton Sr., 62, a native of LaPlace and resident of Jackson, died Jan. 19. He was the father of Nathan Paxton Jr.
He was the son of Leona M. Jones and the late August Paxton and brother of Marilyn Francois, Donald Mitchell, Edgar Jones, Ethel Paxton and the late Margie Duhe.
He is also survived by three grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Milesville Memorial Church of God in Christ, LaPlace, with interment at Providence Resthaven Cemetery, LaPlace. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
PEPPERS
GONZALES – Bessie Lavigne Morin Peppers, 74, a native of Convent and resident of St. Amant, died Jan. 20. She was the mother of Michael and the late Lester and Ronald Peppers.
She is also survived by two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 23 in the chapel of Welsh Funeral Home, Gonzales, with interment at New River Baptist Church Cemetery, St. Amant.
RAYMOND
MARRERO – Olevia “Tot” Jones Raymond, 82, a native of Vacherie and resident of Harvey, died Jan. 19. She was the mother of Ceola Dumas, Octavia Raymond, Terrell Williams, Dan, Fredrick and Darryl Elliott and the late Frank Raymond Jr. and Maverick Elliott.
She was the daughter of the late Adam Sr. and Lorina Jones; sister of the late Rosetta Price, Josephine Williams, Elnora Roussell and Samuel, Lawrence and Timothy Jones; and stepsister of the late Louise Favorite and Pearl Turner.
She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 21 in the chapel of Davis Mortuary Service, Marrero, with interment at Westlawn Cemetery, Gretna.
RUSSO
METAIRIE – Margaret Breaux Russo, 79, a native of Raceland and resident of Destrehan, died Jan. 17. She was the wife of the late Leonard Russo, and mother of Theresa Wellman and Debra Russo.
She was the daughter of the late Edward and Izel Hebert Breaux, and sister of Alvin and Whiley Breaux, and the late Elmo, Clinton, Milton and Francis Breaux.
She is also survived by three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 20 in the chapel of Lake Lawn Funeral Home, Metairie, with interment at Lake Lawn Park Cemetery.
SAVOIE
METAIRIE – I. John Savoie, 81, a native of Norco and resident of Kenner for 41 years, died Jan. 17. He was the husband of Nancy Wyman Savoie and father of I. Aaron and Keith Savoie Sr.
He was the son of Ignace and Agnes Remoudet Savoie, and brother of Charles, Marion Savoie, and the late Earline Hymel.
He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a retired district manager for Security Industrial Insurance Co. He was active in the Kenner Lions Club, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Services were Jan. 21 in the chapel of Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, Metairie, with interment at Garden of Memories.
SCOTT
HAHNVILLE – Elsie Lee Scott, 91, a native of Taft and resident of Hahnville for 40 years, died Jan. 14. She was the wife of the late Irby Scott and mother of Leona Jupiter and Alberta and Ernest Scott.
She was the daughter of the late John Lee and Lottie Alexander.
She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 17 at Philadelphia Baptist Church, Hahnville, with interment at Green Hill Cemetery, Taft.
WAGUESPACK
NORCO – Rudolph A. “Rudy” Waguespack Sr., a native of Lutcher and resident of Norco for most of his life, died Jan. 13. He was the husband of 59 years of the late Enid Waguespack and father of Lydia Hardy and Rudolph “Andy” Waguespack Jr.
He was the son of the late Maurice and Olive Hebert Waguespack and brother of the late Maurice, Lynn, Hebert and Mercedes Waguespack.
He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and active in the Knights of Columbus.
Services were Jan. 16 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan.
WASHINGTON
PAULINA – Leroy “Nealy” Washington Sr., 66, a native and resident of Paulina, died Jan. 16.
He was the husband of Louise Miller Washington and father of Deidra Tuircuit, Leroy Jr., George, Tyrone, Cedric and Jerry Washington.
He was the son of the late Junius and Minerva Givens Washington, and brother of Delores Williams, Ruth Brooks, Lattie Richardson, Morris, Percy, Berman, Ulysses Sr., Charles Sr. and Ferdinand Washington Sr., and the late Joseph and Herman Washington.
He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
He was a retired construction worker at Boh Brothers Construction Co.
Services were Jan. 20 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Paulina, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina.
WILLIAMS
RESERVE – Kitty Williams, 61, a native and resident of Reserve, died Jan. 12.
She was the mother of Yolanda Jefferson.
She was the daughter of the late James and Edna Williams, and sister of Viola Telfair, Jessie Smith, Audrey Vinnette, Julia, Ruth, James, Matthew and the Rev. George Williams.
She is also survived by three grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 20 at New Pilgrim Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens.
YOUNG
DES ALLEMANDS – Earl Young Sr., 85, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died Jan. 13. He was the father of Mary Chaney, Verna Major and Rosalee, Earl Jr., Joshua and Donald Young.
He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was a retired dragline operator and head deacon emeritus at Antioch Baptist Church.
Services were Jan. 18 at noon at Antioch Baptist Church, Des Allemands, with interment at Shell Mound Cemetery, Des Allemands.
