West St. John pounds Riverdale

EDGARD – West St. John High School hosted Riverdale High School Friday in a non-district contest and sent them packing with a 45-6 Rams victory.

Patrick Jackson, Quinn Johnson each scored two touchdowns to set Riverdale on their ears, joined by Josh Lumar and Carl Dumas with one TD each.

It did not take long for the Rams to get cooking as Jackson scored from seven yards out, Johnson from six yards out and Dumas on an 11-yard run, all in the first quarter. The first touchdown’s PAT was missed, but Sandy Harris scored on a two-point conversion after Johnson’s score and the next PAT was successful.

In the second quarter, Johnson scored again, this from seven yards out, and Lumar nailed his first of the evening. The PATs missed, though, which gave the Rams a 33-0 halftime lead.

Opening the second half, WSJ accepted the ball and Lumar galloped 85 yards for the a touchdown. Riverdale finally got on the board with Eric Brown scoring on a 48-yard pass reception from Derek Brown.

In the closing minutes of the third quarter, Jackson again scored, this time on a two-yard run, making it 45-6 for the final after a scoreless fourth quarter. Jackson had eight carries for 141 yards to lead the Rams, followed by Johnson’s five carries for 41 yards.

E.D. White downs St. James

VACHERIE – The E.D White High School Cardinals claimed the district 10-3A title with a 17-7 victory Friday over the St. James High School Wildcats.

Stephen Gros’ 18-yard touchdown run gave the Cardinals a 14-7 lead in third quarter. A 20-yard field goal in the fourth quarter made the score 17-7 E.D. White.

Each team scored rushing touchdowns in the first half. Charlie Reulet got things started with a 7-yard touchdown run to give the Thibodaux school a 7-0 lead. Anthony Oubert answered with a 20-yard touchdown run to tie the game up at seven.

East St. John thumps Central Lafourche

MATHEWS – The East St. John High School Wildcats improved their playoff chances with a 48-13 destruction Friday over Central Lafourche High School.

The ESJ Wildcats racked up 426 yards total offense to Central Lafourche’s 144. After the Trojans took a 7-0 lead, the Wildcats scored 48 unanswered points until a couple of minutes remaining in the game. ESJ running back Derron Thomas finished with 198 yards rushing and three touchdowns in the win. Wildcats quarterback Ryan Perrilloux was 4-13 for 96 yards. Perrilloux connected twice with receiver Reggie Joseph for touchdowns.

One was a 42-yard pass and the other was an 18-yard touchdown pass. East St. John backup quarterback Dominick Thomas hit Travis Joseph for a 65-yard bomb for a touchdown in the second half.

Senior running back Damon Pittman added a 20-yard touchdown run.
