Dance Unlimited dancers attend competitions, win top awards

Dance Unlimited recently competed in two competitions, receiving the overall top soloists award and other top awards. At the American Dance Awards in Baton Rouge, dancers MaQue Hollins and Alyson Waguespack entered a total of five routines and walked away with the highest award given, high golds and also received all the overall awards they were eligible for. Hollins was named Overall Top Soloist and Dancer of the Year in the petite category. Alyson Waguespack was named Overall Top Soloist and Dancer of the Year in the junior category. Hollins and Waguespack were also selected to perform at the “dance off.” Dance Unlimited teachers received three top choreography solo awards. Samantha Sidwell received the top choreographer award and second overall top award. Laurie Falgoust received the third overall top award. At the Dance Xplosion competition in Biloxi, Miss. the overall Junior Miss Dance award went to Alyson Waguespack for her performance, choreographed by Samantha Sidwell. Waguespack was also named Overall High Score Soloist. Duanne Cazalot received third overall high score for choreography of a large group. Dance Unlimited’s competition team will travel to Las Vegas, Nev., to compete in the Star Systems Nationals, and eight dancers will travel to New York City to participate in the Broadway Experience. Alyson Waguespack will travel to New York City, where she will represent the Louisiana Chapter of Dance Masters as the Petite Miss Dance of Louisiana at the national convention and competition.
