Summer reading program to begin St. John the Baptist Parish Library’s “Zip into fhe Future” summer reading program takes place from June 4 through July 28. This year’s program will include storytellers, crafts, puzzles and games. Johnette Downing will give a musical performance on the morning of June 4 at LaPlace Elementary School, followed by a 2 p.m. show at the Garyville library branch. On June 5, she will perform at 10 a.m. at the Reserve library branch and at 2 p.m. at the Edgard library branch. John Lehon will present “Fables for the Future,” a program for children 8 and older on time travel and science fiction stories, at 10 a.m. at the LaPlace library branch. Tim and Laura Allured will once again return to St. John Parish with four performances of “Harvey the Rabbit and Friends”. They will perform July 2 at 10 a.m. at LaPlace Elementary School, followed by a 2 p.m. show at the Garyville library branch. On July 3, shows are at 10 a.m. at the Reserve library branch and their final performance is at 2 p.m. at the Edgard library branch. The final performer for this summer’s program is Angela the Yarnspinner. She will appear at LaPlace Elementary School July 26 at 10 a.m., followed by a 2 p.m. show at the Garyville library branch. On July 27, she will be at the Reserve library at 10 a.m. and at the Edgard library branch at 2 p.m. St. John Parish children, pre-school age and older, may register at any St. John branch beginning June 4.
