LAPLACE – Hilda Batiste, 71, a native and resident of LaPlace, died April 28. She was the wife of the Rev. Joseph Batiste and mother of Stephanie Brown and Lionel, Roderick and the late McDonald and Curtis Batiste.She was also the daughter of the late James and Lorenza Watkins and sister of Audrey King, Nellie Farlough, Marion Ward, Joyce Taylor, Betty Sonney, Barbara Julien, Harold, Clarence and Cornelius Watkins and the late Azelia Fobb and Nelson Watkins.She is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.Services are May 3 at 11 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church No. 1, LaPlace, with interment at Providence Resthaven Cemetery, LaPlace.DETILLIER
LUTCHER – Myrna Englade Detillier, 65, a native and resident of Lutcher, died April 27. She was the wife of Percy “Pep” Detillier and mother of Petty Pollet, Lisa Hymel and Alen and Bret Detillier.She was also the daughter of the late Clay Sr. and Petty Englade and sister of Lalita Poche and Clay “Albert” Jr. and Wilfred Englade.She is also survived by seven grandchildren.Services were April 30 in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, Lutcher, with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Paulina.WILLIAMS
MARRERO – James Jake Williams Sr., 69, a native of Reserve and resident of Waggaman, died April 29. He was the husband of Lena May Janes Williams and father of Debra Comardelle and James Jr., David and Ronald Williams.He was also the brother of Mary, Athanas “Boy” and Earl “Sonny” Williams.He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.Services are today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, Marrero, with interment at Restlawn Cemetery, Avondale. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
