(Staff Photo by Daniel Tyler Gooden) HAHNVILLE – The Hahnville Lady Tigers cruised to an easy 15-0 victory over the Ehret Lady Patriots Tuesday. The Lady Tigers improved to 19-5-1 after the game was called in the fifth inning due to the 15-run rule. The Lady Tiger’s pitching and defensive work gave Ehret few opportunities to score. Pitcher Angela Raziano (11-3) threw seven strikeouts, allowed only two hits, and no runs. Lacy Boyer lead the Hahnville batting attack with two hits and two RBIs. Melanie Delaune had three RBIs, and left fielder Ashley Chaisson had a triple in the fifth which drove in the game ending run. Ehret began the game with shortstop Mashila Davis grounding out to third base. Amy Gondrella got a base on balls, then made it to second on a sacrifice bunt by Lashondra Jones. Catcher Nicolina Marchase held onto a full count, but was struck out by Raziano. Hahnville shortstop Boyer made first base after being walked by Ehret’s Amy Gondrella, who then walked second baseman Danielle Gourgoues. Delaune drove in her first RBI of the day with a sacrifice fly. Kelly Watson hit a fly ball into center field for the third out. The defensive stand against Ehret showed results in the second inning. Two strike outs and a heads up play by Boyer brought the inning to a quick close. The bottom of the second inning saw Hahnville add four runs to their lead. Third baseman Lindsay Yochim got things started with a single, then stole second base, and finally reached home on an error. Boyer hit a double that allowed two more runs to score. Boyer was then driven home by Gourgues’ RBI single. The third inning saw the Lady Patriots only earned hit when right fielder Christy Connor hit a 2-2 pitch that dropped into right field. Connor got no further than second base, as the Lady Tiger’s pitcher walked one, struck out two, and forced a shallow pop fly fielded by Boyer. The Lady Tigers solidified their lead in the bottom of the third inning, adding three runs and bringing the score to 8-0 before being retired. The Lady Patriots turned a double play, sending Watson and Yochim back to the dugout. Second baseman Denika Lawson ended the inning by catching Dixie Dufrene’s fly ball. The score hadn’t changed by the bottom of the fifth inning. Right fielder Ashley Lague hit a single, then advanced as Boyer and Courtney Frickey both bunted. The bases were loaded when Delaune was hit by a pitch, earning her a second RBI as Lague scored. Ehret Lady Patriot Amy Gondrella’s exhaustion was highlighted as she walked the next two batters, scoring two further unearned runs. It fell to Chaisson, who hit a triple deep into right field, sending home the fifteenth run, and ending the game. “It is definitely important to get ahead quick, especially in the playoffs,” Hahnville coach E. J. Tassin said. “You want to get out as quick as you can. The last few games we have been getting hits at the right time. We haven’t been doing that earlier in the year, but lately we have been getting people on base and getting hits.” The Lady Tigers will play Archbishop Blenk(14-12) in the regional round of the state playoffs.
