Matt Caire took the mound for the Tigers and sent the Wildcats home with only one hit in the fourth inning. Hahnville started out strong, scoring in the first three innings. East St. John’s pitcher Louis Gardner held his ground in the fourth and fifth innings, but the team couldn’t get a run in and finally succumbed to three more runs in the sixth. The Tigers took the game in the sixth inning, scoring enough runs to invoke the 10-run lead rule and end the game. Lee Tregre’s batted in Breland Brown for the winning run. Caire’s only hit rolled past the mound in the top of the fourth. He proceeded to take down the next three batters to compensate and end East St. John’s time at the plate. Caire struck out eight and walked two in six innings. East St. John starter Roderick Joseph allowed seven hits and struck out two in just over two innings.
