Hahnville Pitcher Jarrod Ferrell pitched a one-hitter against Destrehan Wednesday afternoon like it was nothing. “Ferrell has been like this last couple of outings,” said Coach Mark Sims. He has been throwing very strong and pitching a lot of strikes in the last few games. “Destrehan is a very tough team and you have to give Jarrod credit for going out and holding them to one hit,” added Sims. Ferrell wasn’t the only player holding Destrehan back. Second baseman Dustin Roussell had nine assists on ground-ball outs during the game. Ferrell wasn’t surprised trusting that his team was there, backing him up. The Hahnville Tigers moved ahead quickly in the game, scoring three runs in the first inning. Destrehan had difficult, committing eight errors as well to help out Hahnville’s first three runs. The Hahnville batters in question were Kyle Mineo and Lee Tregre. Mineo led the Tigers with two hits and four RBIs in the game. Ferrell threw 80 pitches to 26 batters. Only three of the 21 outs were fly balls. The Destrehan Wildcats went through three pitchers and 124 pitches. The game moved the Hahnville Tigers up to first place in the district.
