LAPLACE – Louise DeRoche, 90, a native of Lucy, longtime resident of New Orleans and resident of LaPlace, died March 15. She was the mother of Rose Marie Barcelone McDuffie.She is also survived by three grandchildren. She was a parishioner of Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church.Services were March 19 at All Faiths Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery. DI MODICA
Sister Mary Rosalyn Di Modica (Demonica), O.P., 90, a native of Hammond and resident of New Orleans, died March 18. She was the daughter of the late Cora Spera and Joseph Di Modica (Demonica); sister of Rose Demonica Schillace and the late Fred, Michael and Ciro Demonica and step-sister of Sadie Ciolino Boeta and the late Salvadore Ciolino. After receiving her vows on May 27, 1928, Di Modica taught at St. Peter School in Reserve, St. Joan of Arc in LaPlace and other schools between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.Services are today at 10 a.m. at the Dominican sisters Motherhouse Chapel, 580 Broadway, New Orleans. RESERVE – The Rev. Clara Francis McClain Johnson, 87, a native of Wallace and resident of Reserve and New Orleans, died March 10. She was the mother of Henry McClain Jr., Herman McClain Sr. and Yvonne McClain and adopted mother of Anden Johnson. She is also survived by her sister, Albertine Mitchell, 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Services were held March 17 at Greater St. James Baptist Church, New Orleans, with interment at Resthaven Memorial Park.
LASSEIGNE
RESERVE – Leonard T. Lasseigne, 80, a native of Reserve and resident of New Orleans, died March 14. He was the husband of the late Elsie Maurin Lasseigne and father of David Lasseigne, Cammy Vidacovich, Lisa Vicknair the late Leonard Jr. and Lynn Lasseigne. He was also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services were March 20, at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment at St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery.

GRAMERCY – Charles F. “Hawk” Walthers, 62, a native of Gonzales and resident of Gramercy, died March 15. He was the husband of Judy Blank Walthers and the father of Jeff and Britt Walthers and Stacy Hotard. He was the son and stepson of the late Tommie and Ray Gonzales.He is also survived by two grandchildren.He was a retired employee of Kaiser Aluminum and a U.S. Army veteran.Services were March 19 at Alexander Funeral Home, Lutcher, with entombment at in St. Joseph Mausoleum.
