Lady Rebels, RCS defeat district foes

LUTCHER – Donaldsonville rallied from a five-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter to defeat Lutcher, 72-66, Tuesday evening. The Lady Tigers remained in a first-place tie with E.D. White at 5-1 in District 9-3A and 13-13 overall. Lutcher dropped to 13-18 overall and 3-3 in district. Lutcher led 56-51 at the end of the third quarter but Donaldsonville rallied with a 21-10 run over the final eight minutes. Shawnacy Lewis led Donaldsonville with 19 points. Alexis Lymon had 14, Taralyn Stephens 13 and Rhonda Joseph and Jamie Octave 12 apiece. Lutcher was led by Kaneeka Taylor who also had 19 points. Jessica Williams had 11 points and Brandy Derbigny and Javonne Ross 10 apiece.

E.D. White 57, St. Charles Catholic 32

LAPLACE – E.D. White remained tied with Donaldsonville atop District 9-3A with a 57-32 victory at St. Charles Catholic Tuesday evening. The Lady Cardinals improved to 5-1 in district play and 18-9 overall. St. Charles Catholic fell to 1-4 in district and 5-18 overall. E.D. White led 34-11 at the end of the first half and 46-18 going into the fourth quarter. Lynze Perkins led St. Charles Catholic with eight points. Heather Heltz chipped in with six.

Riverside 40, Redeemer-Seton 26

RESERVE – Crystal Rome scored a game-high 17 points to lead Riverside to a 40-26 victory over Redeemer-Seton Tuesday evening. The Lady Rebels remained in third place in District 9-2A at 6-4 in district and 14-11 overall. Redeemer-Seton fell to 4-6 in district and 9-15 overall. Riverside led 12-5 at the end of the first quarter and 29-15 at the break. Wendy Reames contributed nine points and Heather Montz five for the Lady Rebels.

Newman 69, West St. John 47

NEW ORLEANS – Newman remained a game out of first place in District 9-2A with a 69-47 victory over West St. John Tuesday evening. The Greenies trail Ridgewood by a game with an 8-1 mark in district and an overall record of 23-8. West St. John fell to 4-6 in district and 7-13 overall. Tiffany Jones led Newman with 19 points. Jessica Neveu helped out with 18 and Lauren Miotov with 14. West St. John was led by Janell Morris with 12 points. Ciara Borne added nine and Keyen Weber seven.

Reserve Christian 43, Phoenix 34 (OT)

PHOENIX – Reserve Christian held Phoenix scoreless in overtime to pull out a 43-34 victory in District 12-B play Tuesday. Reserve Christian took over second with the win, improving to 1-1 in district and 14-10 overall. Phoenix fell to 0-2 in district and 10-10 overall. Phoenix rallied from a 21-17 halftime deficit to tie the game at the end of regulation. But the Lady Eagles went on an 8-0 run during the overtime period. Trenelle Smith scored a game-high 16 points for the Lady Eagles. Amber Schlesinger added seven points and Renee Delaneuville six.
