Dance students get program scholarships

METAIRIE – MaQue Hollins and Randi Marshall, along with many dancers from Dance Unlimited, attended the Success America Dance Convention held at the Landmark Hotel in Metairie recently.

After a long day of participating in classes by some of New York’s finest instructors, auditions were held for scholarships to attend the Broadway Experience in New York City at the end of July 2001.

In the 8 and under division, MaQue Hollins won a full paid scholarship to New York. Hollins, the 8-year-old daughter of QuoVadis and Carnel Hollins ofLaPlace, is in her seventh year of dance and gymnastics at Dance Unlimited, under the direction of Laurie Falgoust, Samantha Sidwell and Duanne Cazalot.

In the 9- to 12-year division, Marshall was named the recipient of a partial scholarship to New York. Marshall, the 10-year-old daughter of GeorgelynnMartin and Randy Marshall of Destrehan, is a nine-year student of Dance Unlimited.

Several other students received invitations to New York and are presently working on fund-raisers to help cover their expenses. They are AlysonWaguespack, Chelsea Troxler, Victoria Pellerin, Magen LeBlanc, Kyra Duhe, Shelley Hennig, Jenna Faul and Nicole Falgoust.
