I’m in my senior year of high school now and a lot of teachers are talking to my class about our destinies. It’s kind of weird to think that at this time next year, awhole new life will have started for my classmates and me. Some of my friendshave already decided to work for a year before college, some are living at home during their first year, some are moving out of state and some are attending colleges in state but are moving out (I think that the last one is me!).
Nevertheless, I know that my classmates will be successful in whatever they decide to do, and I trust that each one of them will follow the plan that God has already mapped out for them…that they will fulfill their destinies.I read a book recently and in it I found this little poem about destiny. It affectedme immediately, and I even called a friend to read it to her. Here it is:”Sow a thought, Reap an act; Sow an act, Reap a habit; Sow a habit, Reap a character; Sow a character, Reap a destiny.”Isn’t that awesome? This poem is saying that our destinies hinge hugely on our thoughts. I found that interesting, because the only person who can think for youis you. You, in great part along with God’s guidance, control your destiny. Our English teacher has this saying on his classroom wall: “Think you can or think you can’t. Either way you’re right.”Your success in every area of life begins with you first thinking that you can. If youare determined enough in your own mind, nothing can hold you back.
So as you go through this week, determine in your mind that you will shape your destiny, not the circumstances around you. You may surprise yourself at howmuch you can accomplish.
