Teen drowns in swimming pool

ST. ROSE – A 14-year-old St. Rose boy drowned Tuesday in an apartmentcomplex swimming pool. He was buried Friday.Charles Snow, who was going into seventh grade this fall at Albert Cammon Middle School, was swimming with a group of friends at the Charlestowne Homeowners Association clubhouse pool early Tuesday afternoon.

Suddenly, someone noticed Snow was under water and had not come up. Hewas retrieved at 2 p.m. and, according to Capt. Patrick Yoes of the St.Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, both the pool monitor who spotted Snow in the water and emergency medical technicians tried for an hour and a half to revive him, without success.

“Clearly, it’s an accident,” Yoes commented. “A tragic accident.”Snow was the son of Charles Darr and Carol Snow and brother of Jeremy, Brian and Angela Snow and Christopher Darr.

“We have so much support, it’s unbelievable,” commented his mother.

“People are really helping us through this.”Snow added that her sister-in-law established a fund in Charles Snow’s name at Hibernia Bank to help meet funeral expenses, “and donations have been pouring in,” she said.

The youngster was a good swimmer and was planning to become an usher at his church, Abundant Life Fellowship in Harahan.

Services were held Friday in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home inNorco, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose.
