The St. Charles Parish Parks and Recreation Department and RiverBend Lanes invites all seniors, 50 years-old and above, to bring a friend and Bowl for Fun during the next four weeks on Monday mornings at 10 a.m.The cost will be 99 cents per game, three games for $2.97. The St. CharlesParish Parks and Recreation Department will continue to pay the fee of $1 of the bowling cost, per three game set. The expense will be $1.97.Registration for the Fall/Winter League will be held Monday, July 10 at River Bend Lanes. All seniors who join will be invited to bowl a round of “Nine-pin,No-tap” games.

The St. Charles Catholic Comets Football Camp for ages 7-13 will beheld at the school July 25-28 from 9 a.m. till noon.The cost of the camp is $50. Registration will be held Monday, July 24, from9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the SCC CometPlex.The camp includes instruction at all positions, weight lifting, camp T-shirt, highlight films, Iron Boy contest, touch football games, skill tests, races and punt, pass and kick contests.

The Destrehan Fighting Wildcats Football Camp will be held at the school for ages 7-14 July 25-28 from 9 a.m. to noon.Instruction will be provided at all postitions by the Destrehan coaching staff.

The 2000 Millennium Basketball Camp will be held at West St. John HighSchool July 24-28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.The camp is conducted by Brian Lumar, Loyola’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder and the coach the 1997 and 2000 state champion Shaw Eagles.

Lumar also is the coach the drilling experts Shaw Dribblers and the AAU Louisiana Jammers.

The camp includes divisions for boys and girls ages six to 15. All campers willbe taught, observed and corrected in all phases of basketball. The camperswill be grouped according to age, gender and talent level. Activities includepractice sessions, 3-on-3 tournaments, 5-on-5 games and various shooting contests. Each camper will also receive their own official Millenniumbasketball.

The cost of the camp is $75 if pre-registered and $85 for Monday walk-ups.

The Louisiana Soccer Association will hold is 23rd annual general meeting July 15-16 at the Holiday Inn and the Lafreniere Park soccer fields in Metairie.

Free workshops will be conducted for coaches, administrators and referees.

The guest clinician is John Ellinger, a U.S. Soccer national staff coach and thehead coach of the U-17 men’s national team. He is also the assistant coachfor the men’s Olympic team which has qualified for Sydney 2000.

The Baton Rouge Soccer Association in conjunction with the Louisiana Soccer Association is hosting a “D” level coaching license course for coaches of U15 to U19 teams July 21-23 and 29 and 30 at the BRSA office in Baton Rouge.

The course is open to all coaches but some prerequisites do apply. A detailedschedule will be available upon registration. The cost is $75 for coachesaffiliated to the state association and $90 for those non-affiliated. AAU will conduct baseball and softball evaluations in the following cities in the last two weeks of July and each weekend in August: Houston, Dallas, Tulsa, Okla., Little Rock, Ark., Jackson, Miss., and Monroe.The camps are designed to aid and educate the athletes and their parents on how to better their chances of playing baseball ot softball at the pro or collegiate level. The camps will be conducted by college coaches and proscouts.

Each athlete will receive a written evaluation and a seminar that will explain methods on how to be seen, academic requirements and other topics. Eachathlete’s evaluation will be put into a catalog and sent to all college coaches and pro organizations.

Applications are now being evaluated by the Ten Star All-Star Basketball Camp. Boys and girls ages 7-19 can apply. Players are selected by invitationonly. The Junior Achievement Golf Sampler Card allows area golfers to drive the fairways at 12 of the local golf courses.

The Golf Sampler Card is $39 and entitles the cardholder to play a total of 49 rounds of golf among the participating courses – Audubon, Bayou Barriere, Colonial, Colonial Acres, Eastover, Ellendale, Lakewood, Oak Harbor, Ormond, Pinewood, Stonebridge and Timberlane. Supporters of the gold cardwill also receive a complimentary Junior Achievement golf towel. The card isvalid from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2000.Proceeds from the Golf Sampler Card benefit Junior Achievement’s K-12 in- school free enterprise programs. This year alone, Junior Achievement and its900 volunteers will teach more than 25,000 local students in over 140 schools about the relevance of education to the workplace and to prepare them for lifelong learning.

Special Olympics Louisiana’s new “Share the Victory” motor vehicle recycling program allows anyone in Orleans, Jefferson, St.

Bernard, St. Tammany and St. Charles parishes to turn extra or unwantedvehicles into “something special for Special Olympics.”An individual can call the “Share the Victory” toll-free number and Special Olympics will arrange to tow away their motor vehicle for free. The vehiclewill be recycled into the funds needed to support the year-round program of sports training and athletic competition for mentally-retarded children and adults in Louisiana.

Vehicles can be in any condition to qualify as long as the owner has the title.

Consumers may also be able to take advantage of a tax deduction as the fair market price of the vehicle is considered a tax deductible donation to Special Olympics.
