The St. Charles Parish Parks and Recreation Department and RiverBend Lanes invites all seniors, 50 years-old and above, to bring a friend and Bowl for Fun during the next four weeks on Monday mornings at 10 a.m.The cost will be 99 cents per game, three games for $2.97. The St. CharlesParish Parks and Recreation Department will continue to pay the fee of $1 of the bowling cost, per three game set. The expense will be $1.97.Registration for the Fall/Winter League will be held Monday, July 10 at River Bend Lanes. All seniors who join will be invited to bowl a round of”Nine-pin, No-tap” games.

The River Parishes Community College Foundation, Inc. will hold agolf tournament fundraiser on behalf of the college Monday, June 26, at Belle Terre Country Club. Tee times are at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.Participation categories are: four-person team – $400; four-person team and hole sponsorship on tee box – $450; hole sponsorship sign on tee box – $50; and corporate sponsor with name in all publicity and promotional materials – $1,000.

The format is a four-man scramble, maximum two putts per green and maximum par on every hole. Longest drive contests will be held on No. 9and No. 11 and closest to the hole contests on No. 3, 5, 13 and 16. Prizeswill be awarded for low net and low gross in both the a.m. and p.m. rounds.The first hole-in-one of the day wins a car donated by Capital GMC.

Nicholls State University baseball coach B.D. Parker will holdthree different sessions of his Bayou Baseball Camps in June at Raymond E. Didier Field on the Colonel campus.The dates of the three sessions are June 12-15, 19-22 and 26-29, and are open to boys ages 5 through 18. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. eachday and the cost of a session is $155, which includes lunch and a T-shirt.

The purpose of the camp is to provide quality instruction on all aspects of the game as well as lectures regarding the mental aspects of being successful on and off the field. Campers will be divided into appropriateage and skill level groups.

The tour will feature the head coaches of all 15 intercollegiate sports.

Selected assistant coaches and staff members will also be in attendance.

The Caravan will also make stops at the Holiday Inn in Morgan City Monday, Bayou Vue Cafe in Houma on June 14 and First and Last Chance Cafe in Donaldsonville on June 22.

The Golf Sampler Card is $39 and entitles the cardholder to play a total of 49 rounds of golf among the participating courses – Audubon, Bayou Barriere, Colonial, Colonial Acres, Eastover, Ellendale, Lakewood, Oak Harbor, Ormond, Pinewood, Stonebridge and Timberlane. Supporters of thegold card will also receive a complimentary Junior Achievement golf towel. The card is valid from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2000.Proceeds from the Golf Sampler Card benefit Junior Achievement’s K-12 in-school free enterprise programs. This year alone, Junior Achievementand its 900 volunteers will teach more than 25,000 local students in over 140 schools about the relevance of education to the workplace and to prepare them for lifelong learning.

Bernard, St. Tammany and St. Charles parishes to turn extra or unwantedvehicles into “something special for Special Olympics.”An individual can call the “Share the Victory” toll-free number and Special Olympics will arrange to tow away their motor vehicle for free.

The vehicle will be recycled into the funds needed to support the year- round program of sports training and athletic competition for mentally- retarded children and adults in Louisiana.

Vehicles can be in any condition to qualify as long as the owner has the title. Consumers may also be able to take advantage of a tax deduction asthe fair market price of the vehicle is considered a tax deductible donation to Special Olympics.
