Family loses all in fire; husband is charged

RESERVE – A woman and her two children were left homeless Sunday, and her estranged husband is accused of burning down her trailer in Reserve.
According to the St. John Sheriff’s Office, Leatrice Lennix of 210 E. 30th St.in Reserve was celebrating Mother’s Day with her children at a friend’s house.
Her estranged husband, George Anderson, 39, came to the party and told Lennix he was going to her trailer on E. 30th Street. Lennix told him not to gothere, but he ignored her and left.
Lennix called the St. John Sheriff’s Office. When deputies arrived at thetrailer they found Anderson leaving. They gave chase, then noticed thetrailer was on fire. According to witnesses, Anderson had poured gasoline onthe trailer and set it on fire. Anderson got away while the police tried tobattle the fire.
Two hours later Anderson was found hiding in Garyville. He was arrested andcharged with contempt of court and simple arson.
“They lost everything in the fire,” said Capt. Mike Tregre of the St. JohnSheriff’s Office.
