St. Charles coroner resting after wreck

HAHNVILLE – St. Charles Parish Coroner Dr. David Vial is recovering at St.Charles Parish Hospital from moderate injuries sustained in a three-vehicle accident last weekend near Golden Meadow.
Vial, 71, of Luling has been coroner in St. Charles Parish since 1977. Vial was northbound on Louisiana Highway 3235, returning from a visit to Grand Isle, when his 1980 GMC custom van collided with a car which ran a stop sign at the intersection with West 107th Street. The accident occurredApril 7 at 1:45 p.m.Louisiana State Police Troop C related that Vial sustained moderate injuries in the accident along with his passenger, Wayne Poplin, 58, of Waggaman.
The other vehicle, a 1993 Chevrolet Lumina, was driven by Rita Lemaire, 71, of Cut Off, who sustained serious injuries. A second northbound vehicle, a1992 Ford F-450, was driven by Floyd Bruce, 41, of Marrero. Bruce wasuninjured.
