PARADIS – A 38-year-old mother of two died Friday night in a one-car accident on Old Spanish Trail.

Gail Estay Champion, 473 Estay Lane, was westbound on Louisiana Highway 631 near Pit Road at 7:09 p.m. when, for no reason known, her white 1988Ford F-150 crossed the opposite lane, struck two trees and overturned.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by forensic investigator Rob Gilder at 7:55 p.m.Champion was the wife of Glen Champion of Paradis, mother of Cody and Troy Champion and daughter of James Sr. and Ruth Cox Estay of Paradis.Services were held Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Paradis.
