Riverside rolls to 20th straight regular season victory, 59-12

RESERVE – Riverside routed Ridgewood, 59-12, Friday night, extending its regular season winning streak to 20 games dating back to 1997.
The Rebels left the field with an 8-0 record, 4-0 in District 9-2A.
Ridgewood fell to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in district.
The Rebels beat Ridgewood soundly from the get go. Casey Remondetscored the first three touchdowns for the team. With 5:29 on the clock,Remondet ran for 10 yards putting the first score on the board, while Kaleb Mayes made the first of every extra-point kick made and set the score at 7-0.
Four minutes later, Remondet caught a 13-yard pass and as a crushing block cleared his path on the right side, he finished the drive with a 57- yard run for the touchdown. Early in the second quarter Remondet againscored with another great run of 33-yards.
Ridgewood finally landed a score on the board as a long drive with four first downs ended with the quarterback, Troy Lugo, pushing over the last yards for six points. Defensive lineman,John Champagne blocked theextra-point and Ridgewood sat with six points until well into the last quarter.
The Rebels continued their scoring as Britt Waguespack carried the ball in from the 9yard line. The last touchdown of the first half was made byGary Entremont, as he pulled in a 14-yard pass from Damian Melancon in the end zone. The half ended with 35-6 on the board. Remondet steppedoff the field for the evening, contributing an amazing 141 yards with six carries and putting 18 points on the board.
Two minutes into the second half, a 37-yard run by Brandon Delaneuville gave another touchdown to Riverside. Eight minutes later, Mayes addedthree more points with a 27-yard field goal. Quarterback Michael Schoen,took the Rebels down field for another scoring drive and crossed the goal line himself with a 4-yard dash.
For Riverside’s last score, Chance Millet flanked Ridgewood’s defense on the right with a 14-yard run.
Ridgewood put their last six points on the board as Lugo found Bryan Senrilles with a 4-yard pass. The two-point conversion was incomplete,leaving the final score at 59-12.
Riverside finished with 475 yards in total offense. The Rebels carried theball for 378 yards. Melancon and Schoen combined to complete 6-of-10passes for 97 yards.
Ridgewood was held to 184 yards in offense. The Eagles rushed for 41yards while Lugo completed 14-of-29 passes for 143 yards with five interceptions.
Riverside goes on to play Newman next Friday in District 9-2A play.
Ridgewood has a bye week before closing at home against Buras.
