BARBAZON NEW ORLEANSBeverly Idstrom Barbazon, 59, a native of New Orleans and a resident of St. Rose for 10 years, died Sept. 27. She was the wife ofLester J. Barbazon Jr. and mother of Gina Gustafson, Kristen Compton andCarrie, Leonard and Joseph Barbazon.

She was also the daughter of the late Leonard and Regina Idstrom.

She is also survived by five grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 29 in the chapel of Jacob Schoen and Son FuneralHome, New Orleans with interment at Greenwood Cemetery.

BROOKS RESERVEFreddie Brooks Sr., 73, a native of New Orleans and a residentof St. Rose for one year, died Sept. 23. He was the father of Frieda Howard and Freddie Brooks Jr.

He was also the brother of Helen Cole, Delores Bourgeois, Annie Mae Willis, Ernest Flowers and Isaac, Ellis and Thelma Brooks.

He is also survived by three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 29 at New Pilgrim Baptist Church, Reserve, withinterment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.

BROWN LAPLACEGeneva Himes Brown, 85, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Sept. 28. She was the wife of the late Edward H. Brown Sr. and mother ofRosalie Lennix, Beatrice Himes and Edward Jr., Harold, Lilton and EarlBrown.

She was also the daughter of the late Octavia Variste and George Himes.

She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, LaPlace, withinterment at Providence Rest Haven, LaPlace. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

CHAMPAGNE LAPLACEHenry J. Champagne Sr., 83, a native and resident of Mt. Airy,died Sept. 29. He was the husband of Ethel Sutton Champagne and father ofJoycelyn Martinez and Barry, Bryan, Ralph, Michael, Ronnie, David and Henry Champagne Jr.

He was also the son of the late Andre and Alice Champagne and brother of Geraldine Berthelot and the late Irving, Clarence, Lloyd and Lawrence Champagne.

He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were held Oct. 1 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home,LaPlace with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

CLAVERIE LUTCHERJoyce Colbert Claverie, 57, a native and resident of Lutcher, died Sept. 23. She was the mother of Ivy Coleman and Cathy Cyprian.She was also the daughter of the late Ernest Sr. and Elnora Smith Colbertand the sister of Diana Kenney, Reynaud Stewart and Ernest Jr. and GeorgeColbert.

She is also survived by five grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 30 at St. Joe Baptist Church, Lutcher, withinterment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Paulina.

COLLY BOUTTEJames W. Colly, 76, a native of Luling and a resident of Bouttefor 53 years, died Sept. 26. He was the husband of Eloise Coleman Collyand father of Artemise Jones and Burnard, Wallace and James Colly.

He was also the son of the late James and Florence Markey Colly and brother of Esther Holton, Florence Lewis and Vance, Hewitt and Herschel Colly.

He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Boutte, withinterment at St. Mary Cemetery, Boutte.

FALGOUT HAHNVILLEMary Lou Thibodeaux Falgout, 55, a native of Thibodaux and a resident of Hahnville, died Sept. 28. She was the wife of Larry Falgout Sr.and mother of Larry Falgout Jr.

She was also the daughter of Norris Thibodeaux and the late Zenobia Leonard Thibodeaux and sister of Glenn, Wayne and Terry Thibodeaux.

She is also survived by one grandchild.

Services were held Oct. 1 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary CatholicChurch, Hahnville with interment at the church cemetery, Taft.

LANIER PONCHATOULAGloria Triche Lanier, 62, a native of Reserve and a resident of Ponchatoula, died Sept. 29. She was the wife of Herbert Lanierand mother of Terri Albert, Stacie Motichek, Christie Atkins and Connie and Donald Lanier.

She was also the daughter of the late Charles and Antoinette Catoire Triche and sister of Sherry Migues, Warner and Allen Triche and the late Marian Jacob and David and Charles “Pickle” Triche.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 1 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ponchatoula, withinterment at Ponchatoula Cemetery.

MILLER RESERVEWillie J. Miller, 89, a native of Convent and a resident ofReserve for 65 years, died Sept. 28. He was the husband of Marie LouiseKinler Miller and father of Marie Brownlow, Barbara Tamplain, Alice Mollere and Wilton Miller.

He was also the son of the late Alfred Sr. and Clarice Miller and brother ofGeorge Loise and Alfred Miller Jr. and the late Lillie Trosclair, EmilyBourgeois, Lelia Landry, Lillian Bread and Clarence Miller.

He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 1 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, withinterment at the church cemetery.

ROBINSON ST. JAMESJacqueline Robinson, 54, a native and resident of St. James,died Sept. 26. She was the wife of the late Oscar Robinson Jr. and motherof Leotha Dumas and Oscar III, Archie, Kevin, Maron and Keith Robinson Sr.

She was also the daughter of the late Celina Spencer Chiquet and Edward Johnson Sr.; step-daughter of Rebecca Johnson; and sister of PauletteJohnson, Gloria Johnson, Shirley Dixon, Theresa Carter, Brenda Simmons, Earl Spencer, Harold Jr., Louis, Paul, Edward Jr. and Ronald Johnson and thelate Eula Mae, Dianne, Warren, Jacob and Joseph Johnson.

She is also survived by 13 grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, St. James,with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m.

WILLIAMS BATON ROUGEOscar Joseph “O.J.” “Jay” Williams, 78, a native of Lionsand a resident of Baton Rouge, died Sept. 29. He was the husband of 52years of Hope Breeden Williams and father of Ginger Marks and Fran Shurtz.

He was also the brother of Rita Simon, Mae Trosclair, Joyce Graugnard, Merle Guidry and Peter and J.P. Williams.He is also survived by two grandchildren.

He was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana College, where he lettered in football and served as student body president. He was a World War II Armyveteran, earning the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a teacher andcoach and retired as principal from Wyandotte Elementary School.

Services were held Oct. 1 at First United Methodist Church, Baton Rouge,with interment at Greenoaks Memorial Park.

WILLIAMS NEW ORLEANSRuben Williams, 72, a native of Boutte and a resident of New Orleans for 40 years, died Sept. 26. He was the husband of VeraWilliams and father of Lillian Alexander, Leroy Williams, James Thomas and the late Rochelle and Gregory Williams.

He was also the son of the late Rebecca and Thomas Williams Sr. and thebrother of Shirley Green, Evalina Jackson, Orelia Butler, Morris Sr. andPreston Williams and the late Elenora Morris and Thomas Jr., Otis, Samueland Clementine Williams.

He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 1 at First House of Prayer Baptist Church, NewOrleans, with interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Boutte.

ZERINGUE METAIRIEEarl Joseph Zeringue, 77, a native of Ama and a resident of Metairie for 33 years, died Sept. 29. He was the husband of the late MyraBabin Zeringue and father of Candace Lovitt, Melanie Dormandy, Melissa Drake and Monica Zeringue.

He was also the son of the late Henry J. and Olive Friloux Zeringue andbrother of Amy Roux, Marie Poche, Esther Detillier, Eula Young, Henry Zeringue and the late Whitney Zeringue.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Metairie,with interment at Metairie Cemetery. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
