Lutcher defeats Walker for fourth straight win

WALKER – Lutcher made it two in a row over ranked teams in Class 4A with a 26-6 win at No. 6 Walker Friday night.Lutcher (4-0) had defeated 16th-ranked Capitol, 28-6, last week.

Thomas Ricks completed 12 of his 19 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs. Chris Johnson caught five passes for 103yards and a score while Kenneth Johnson added one for a 49-yard score.

Jerron Wishom had four catches for 42 yards to go with his team-high 40 yards on 11 carries. Damian Ursin rushed 12 times for 17 yards and atouchdown.

Mike Dumiller completed 6-of-13 passes for 138 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions for Walker (3-1). Demond Williams was held to 39 yardson 18 attempts. Lutcher outgained the Wildcats, 294-188, holding them to50 yards rushing.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard with 6:33 left in the second quarter as Ursin scored from a yard out. The extra point failed, leaving the score 6-0.Ricks hit Kenneth Johnson on a 49-yard scoring pass with 57 seconds left to make it 12-0 after the unsuccessful try for two.

Walker pulled to within 12-6 with 17 seconds left in the half as Dumiller found Lionel Turner on a 59-yard scoring strike. The extra point was nogood.

Lutcher extended its lead with 2:30 left in the third as Ricks connected with Chris Johnson from 47 yards out. T.J. Bourgeois added the extra pointto make it 19-6.

Bernard Riley would close out the scoring 18 seconds later by picking off a Dumiller pass and returning it 41 yards for the score. Bourgeois kickedthe extra point to make it 26-6.

Lutcher plays its final pre-District 9-3A tuneup next Friday at home against Assumption. Walker travels to Mandeville in non-district action.St. James 38,Assumption 6

NAPOLEONVILLE – St. James rolled to its third straight victory with a 38-6 win at Assumption Friday night.

The Wildcats (3-1), ranked fifth in Class 3A, will play their final pre- District 9-3A game at home against Booker T. Washington of New OrleansFriday.

NEWMAN 20, ST. CHARLES 19 NEW ORLEANS – St. Charles Catholic gave Newman all it could handlebefore falling to the Greenies, 20-19, Friday night at Lupin Stadium.

The Comets (1-3) will be out to break a two-game losing streak at home against Parkview Baptist Friday night.
