East St. John grad weds in Methodist ceremony

MCCOMB, Miss. – Beverly Ann Gary became the bride of Willie G. Garbar-Contreras Aug. 14 at the Centenary United Methodist Church. The Rev. Donald L.Bishop conducted the afternoon service.
Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Raymond G. Gary of McComb, and the motherof the groom is Camilla Contreras of El Jebel, Colo.
Two large bouquets of purple, pink, lavender and rose flowers and two seven candelabra banked the altar.
The bride was dressed in a long white satin gown with a cathedral length train.
The gown was encrusted with pearls, sequins and had lace insets in the skirt.
The long lace sleeves ended with points over the hands. Her veil, made by hermother, was a band with flowers in the back. She carried a cascade of whiteroses and white daisies.
The attendants were Jamie Melancon and Kay Coca of LaPlace and Kelly Sanderson of Kenner. Taylor Wentworth of Sturgis, Mich., served as flower girl.The attendants were all dressed in long, violet crepe gowns with short trains and carried nosegays.
The groom and his groomsmen wore black tuxedos and gray vests. IshmaelGarbar of El Jebel, Colo., served his brother as best man and his other brother,David Garbar of Cincinnati, Ohio, and friend, Antony Lepe of Carbondale, Colo.,were groomsmen. Austin Anderson of LaPlace was ring bearer.Ushers were uncles of the bride, Robert E. Brewer of Constantine, Mich., andAlbert Wood of Grand Junction, Colo., and a friend of the groom, Martine Mendozaof Basalt, Colo. The bride’s brother, Kenneth Gary of Friendswood, Texas, servedas head usher and host at the reception.
The bride’s sisters, Mrs. Robert Carsten of Arvada, Colo., and Mrs. Casey Wilkinsof Carbondale, Colo., served as candle lighters.The bride’s nephew Isaac Gary registered guests and nephew Travis Gary was in charge of the gift table. Her aunts, Mrs. Albert Wood of Grand Junction, Colo.,and Mrs. Robert Brewer of Constantine, Mich., and sister-in-law Mrs. KennethGary of Friendswood, Colo., were reception hostesses.The reception was held in the Fellowship Hall of the church. A buffet and punchwere served. The tables were decorated with candles and flowers. The weddingcake was a three-tiered heart cake, and the groom’s cake was chocolate decorated with chocolate leaves.
The groom graduated from high school in Basalt, Colo., and the bride graduatedfrom East St. John High School in LaPlace and attended Southwest MississippiCommunity College in Summit, Miss.
The newlyweds will reside in El Jebel, Colo. They are employed by the AspenClub Lodge in Aspen, Colo.
Guests were also present from Brownswood, Texas, Three Rivers, Mich.,Indianapolis and Yorktown, Ind.
