This past week my family and I took a brief, but memorable vacation. I wentwith my Aunt Kay, some of her children and my Mi-Mi.
It started out normal enough. We arrived at Gulf Shores early Sunday evening. As soon as we stepped into the condo, all of the younger kids threw on their suits and got ready to go swimming. My cousin and I decided to take a walk onthe beach in search of some other teen-agers. While the kids had fun in thepool, we had no luck.
The next day proved to be an interesting one. No, we never did find any friends. However, I still had a very interesting thing happen to me. Before leaving, Iwent shopping for some sun block. Now you know there are so many kinds. Some are for sensitive skin, some are for oily skin, and some even change colors. I finally decided on a new spray kind. It said it required no rubbing. Ithought it would save some time. So before I went out to the beach, I sprayedon a little. It seemed a little too easy, but I headed out anyway.Later that day I found out that it had been too easy. It was so unevenly appliedthat I had red arms, shoulders and legs except for the big white spots that the sunblock had protected. It looked like I had a disease. I thought my Mi-Mi andAunt Kay were going to die laughing. I was soon known as “Spotty.” This is awarning for all sunscreen users: definitely rub it in and apply evenly.
One night my cousin and I stayed up for two hours in bed talking. We talkedabout some serious stuff, laughed until we cried and she even threw a few pillows at me. It was like we were little kids again. Which brings me to mynext point: a little kid. He’s my cousin and his name is David. We all soon foundout that he could whistle the theme song to the movie “Titanic.” It wasinteresting. He whistled on the way to the beach, the whole time we werethere and even at a restaurant on the way home. All of the people dining andthe people working really enjoyed our family.
The point is that no matter how old or young that you are, you can definitely enjoy your family. I know this will be an unforgettable vacation. I have aspotted body to remind me.
