Rebels edge Loranger at Riverside Meet

RESERVE – Four seconds separated Riverside and Loranger in the Riverside Meet Wednesday afternoon.
The Rebels’ 1600-meter relay team crossed the line in three minutes, 43 seconds, just ahead of Loranger’s, which finished in 3:47. The Rebels’victory in the last event of the meet allowed them to edge Wolves, 97-93, for the team title. A Loranger victory and a second place finish by theRebels would have created a tie between the teams for the title.
St. Charles Catholic was third with 65 points, followed by Ridgewood with57 and Ascension Catholic with 39.
Vicknair edged out teammate Joey Poirrier in the javelin with a throw of 159 feet, seven inches. Poirrier was second with a throw of 158-3.Vicknair also took the discus, beating out Milton Cavette of Ascension Catholic with a best throw of 129-3 1/2. Loranger’s Joey Zito won theshot put with a throw of 45-0, edging out the throw of 44-6 by Riverside’s Ranney Wilson. St. Charles Catholic’s Elinus Noel placed thirdwith a throw of 44-4 with teammate Kenny Ordeneaux (43-11) placing fifth.
Loranger’s Ian Sylve took the long jump with a jump of 21-4 1/2.
Riverside’s Joel Levin was right behind with a jump of 20-4 1/2.
Poirrier’s jump of 19-6 placed him fourth, ahead of St. Charles Catholic’sJulian Ward (19-0).
Sylve also placed second in the triple jump and third in the high jump.
Levin was third in the triple jump with a jump of 39-11, followed by a pair of Comets, Ward (38-2) and Ryan Sterling (37-8 1/2). AscensionCatholic’s Roland Johnson captured the event with a jump of 41-6.
Ridgewood’s James McNary cleared the bar at 6-0 to win the high jump.
Riverside’s Craig Tearney placed fourth with a jump of 5-8.
Riverside placed one-two in the pole vault. Justin Dunn won the evnt byclearing 12-6. T.J. Sutton was second with a vault of 11-0.In the track events, Armand Centanni crossed the line in 5:10.8 seconds totake the 1600-meter run. Teammate Travis Fox (5:21.6) was thirdfollowed by St. Charles Catholic’s Andre Ory (5:29.2). Loranger’s LemarcusWhite captured the 100 and 200 meters with times of 11.47 and 24.06,respectively. St. Charles Catholic’s Josh Schexnayder was second in the100 meters with a time of 11.8. Riverside’s Bradley Hodges was fourth in11.87, followed by the Comets’ Wayne Stein (11.89). Stein and Hodges tiedfor fourth in the 200 in 24.66.St. Charles Catholic was one-two in the 800-meter run. Abner Sanders’2:14.9 won the event with Mike Donnelly coming in second in 2:15.91.Riverside’s Mike Sparacella was third in 2:15.91. Donnelly won the 3200meters with a time of 11:12. The Comets’ Ory was third in 12:11, followedby Riverside’s Fox (12:19.4) and Chris Keller (13:04).Loranger’s Levi Hayden won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.25.Riverside’s Jason Price was second in 19.78 with St. Charles Catholic’sBrett Deroche fourth with a time of 21.71. Loranger’s Jeremy Usry won the400 in 43.82 with Riverside’s Jonathan Oubre placing fifth in 56.46.Loranger captured both the 800- and 400-meter relays in 1:33.87 and45.32, respectively. St. Charles Catholic was second in the 800 in 1:36.06.
