LaPlace teen wins Miss Teen New Orleans title

Nikki McGill, the 17-year-old daughter of Arnold and Paulette McGill of LaPlace, was crowned Miss Teen New Orleans 1999 on Dec. 5.She is the sister of Ryan McGill, Arnold McGill Jr. of Pasadena, Texas, and KimberlyMcGill Picou also of Pasadena. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.Melvin Sutton Sr. of Reserve and the late Mr. and Mrs. James McGill of Ashland, Miss.McGill was one of 18 contestants participating in the Miss Teen New Orleans beauty pageant under the direction of Mary West Winters of Premiere Events. Sheparticipated in interview, swimwear and eveningwear categories.
McGill is a junior at St. Charles Catholic High School in LaPlace. She has been a St.Charles Catholic High School cheerleader for the past two years and a Student Council representative for two years. She is also a two-year member of the SpanishClub, a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and a participant in the P.A.S.S.E.D. program.She was second runner-up in the St. Charles Comet Queen Pageant held in Novemberand was the first runner-up her sophomore year.
McGill was also the second runner-up and Miss Congeniality in the 1998 Miss Andouille Festival pageant held in LaPlace. She participated in the Miss AmericanCo-Ed Pageant in Lafayette in July, where she won the talent contest, was first runner-up in the photogenic contest and placed in the top 12 out of 103 contestants.
She is in her 14th year of dancing with Dance Unlimited of the River Parishes and is also an assistant dance teacher and competition team member for Dance Unlimited, under the direction of Duanne Cazalot.Back to Top
