The St. Charles Catholic Athletic Association is holding a monthly$1,000 raffle. Only 100 tickets will be sold each month at a cost of $20per ticket. Drawings are to be held on the 28th of each month. For ticket information call coach Don Fernandez at St. Charles Catholic at652-3029.
The 13th annual Winn-Dixie Showdown is set for February 19-21 with host teams Tulane, UNO and LSU competing against Missis-sippi, Southern Mississippi and USL at the Superdome.
Games will be held on Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. andon Sunday at noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.Discount tickets are available at all Winn-Dixie stores in Louisiana and Mississippi for $5 general admission. Tickets can also be purchased at theevent for $7 general admission.
In addition to the games, tournament entertainment will include a Kid’s Baseball Clinic, a Girl Scout Dance Team Clinic, Steal-A-Base contest, Dizzy Bat contest and Throw for Dough contest.
The New Orleans Soccer Academy, in conjunction with the Louisiana Soccer Association, will host a “D” level coaching certification course for under 15, under 16 and under 17 coaches Feb. 19-21 and 27-28 from 8 a.m.to 6 p.m. at the N.O.S.A. Club house and fields in New Orleans.The course is open to all coaches, although some prerequisites do apply.
The cost is $75 for coaches affiliated to the state association and $85 for those non-affiliated.

St. Charles Catholic’s Double Diamond Club is hosting its secondannual Double Diamond Gala to benefit the baseball and softball programs Saturday, March 13, in the school gym and cafeteria.
The night begins with dinner served at 7:30 p.m. Dancing is scheduled from9 p.m. to 1 a.m. to the sounds of Summer Breeze. Door prize and cash prizedrawings will be held. Five $200 prizes will be drawn, with the grandprize award of $5000 to be picked at 11 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased from members of the Double Diamond Club or Frank Monica who can be reached at 652-3809.
For the first time, Nicholls State University is offering season ticket plans for the 1999 baseball season.
The Family Season Pass admits two adults and two children into all 25 NSU home games for a cost of $100. The Block Package includes 16individual tickets for the price of $50, which can be used at any NSU home contest during the season.
NSU’s home schedule includes non-conference foes Southwestern Louisiana, New Orleans, Tulane, Southern Mississippi, Centenary, Southern, William Carey, Dallas Baptist and an exhibition contest with Meiji University of Japan.
The conference slate includes home games with Northwestern State, South-eastern Louisiana, Texas-San Antonio and Texas-Arlington.
Under head coach Jim Pizzolatto, the Colonels look to defend their 1998 Southland Conference Tourn-ament championship as NSU will play under the lights for the first time in Raymond E. Southeastern Louisiana University will begin its eighth season with the SLU Sports Radio Network this season. The Sports Network featuresflagship stations KSLU 90.9 FM along with two affiliates and globalaccessibility through the World Wide Web.
This year’s announcing team features play-by-play announcer Mark Willoughby and former Lions basketball player Duane Donald. Willoughbyhas been the voice of Lions basketball since the 1994-95 season.
Affiliates of SLU Sports Radio Network are WIBR 1300 AM in Baton Rouge and WSLA 1560 AM, Slidell. These stations will air a selection of gamesboth home and away. Check your local broadcast schedule for selecteddates.

Special Olympics Louisiana’s new “Share the Victory” motor vehicle recycling program allows anyone in Orleans, Jefferson, St.
Bernard, St. Tammany and St. Charles parishes to turn extra or unwantedvehicles into “something special for Special Olympics.”An individual can call the “Share the Victory” toll-free number and Special Olympics will arrange to tow away their motor vehicle for free.
The vehicle will be recycled into the funds needed to support the year- round program of sports training and athletic competition for mentally- retarded children and adults in Louisiana.
Vehicles can be in any condition to qualify as long as the owner has the title. Consumers may also be able to take advantage of a tax deduction asthe fair market price of the vehicle is considered a tax deductible donation to Special Olympics.
