BATISTEDESTREHAN – Judy Sharon Batiste, 57, a native and resident of New Sarpy, died Jan. 29. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Laura FletcherBatiste and sister of Joan Broussard, Joyce Lane, Jerry Holmes, Barbara Brown, Elaine Carter, Sarah Linda Batiste, and the late Helen Fontenot and Leona Turner.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church,Destrehan, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 10a.m.BOUDREAUXPARADIS – Ernest “Limbo” Joseph Boudreaux, 71, a native and resident of Paradis, died Feb. 2. He was the husband of Doris Penny Boudreaux andfather of Myrna Rome and Marcia Kreamer.
He was also the son of the late Forrest and Eva Ponville Boudreaux and brother of Forrest Boudreaux, Enzie Ponecai and Alvina Toups.
He is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were held Feb. 5 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Paradis,with interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.BOUDREAUXRESERVE – Thomas “Tom” J. Boudreaux, 76, a native and resident ofReserve, died Feb. 2. He was the brother of Lydia Ockman, Violet Duhe andthe late Elmore Boudreaux.
Services were held Feb. 4 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, withinterment at the church cemetery.
DORSEYDES ALLMANDS – The Rev. Joseph J. Dorsey Sr., 81, a native and resident ofParadis, died Jan. 28. He was the father of Shirley Smith, Vergiania Whiteand Janice, Marilyn, Deborah and Joseph Dorsey Jr.
He was also the brother of Rachel West.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 4 at Antioch Baptist Church, Des Allemands, withinterment at Shell Mound Cemetery.
DUMASNEW ORLEANS – Elsie Lemieux Dumas, 90, a native of Vacherie and a resident of New Orleans, died Feb. 2.She was the daughter of the late Willie and Rosalie Lemieux and sister of Beatrice Harris, Gussie Stevens and the late Sedonia Tillman, Ocelia Wingate, Lacretia Keller, Elenora Jones and Willie, Gabriel and Alexander Lemieux.
Services were held Feb. 5 in the chapel of Tharp-Sontheimer-LaudumieyFuneral Home, with interment in Vacherie.
LeBANLAPLACE – Velma Magee LeBan, 94, a native of Tylertown, Miss., and aresident of LaPlace for many years, died Jan. 29. She was the wife of thelate Victor LeBan, mother of Jean Varando Hunter and the late Eugene Varando and step-mother of Jeanette Dandridge.
She was also the daughter of the late Sam and Liza Magee and sister of the late Annie Hill, Emma Johnson, Bessie Ellzey, Sarah Gill, Gladys Washington and Luther Magee.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Ninde Chapel Methodist Church, LaPlace,with interment at Providence Resthaven Cemetery, LaPlace. Visitationstarts at 8:30 a.m.LOUPENORCO – Gladys Breaux Loupe, 79, a native of Gray and a resident of Norco for 40 years, died Feb. 2. She was the wife of the late Gustave Loupe andmother of Julianne Vega, Donald and David Loupe.
She was also the sister of Gertrude Dowden, Alvin, Bert and Eddie Breaux and the late Lillian Ulizzi and Arthur and Paul Breaux.
She is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was the original owner of Loupe’s Supermarket, Norco.
Services were held Feb. 5 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norco, withinterment at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Metairie.
NETHERYALGIERS – Joan “Tony” Songy Nethery, 67, a native of Edgard and a resident of Algiers for 46 years, died Feb. 2. She was the wife of Henry S.Nethery and mother of Margaret, Claudia, John, William and Bruce Nethery.
She was also the daughter of the late Claude and Fabiola Songy and sister of Cleo DeGraauw, Enid Nielsen, Elsie Morris and Kenneth, Monsignor James and Monsignor Donald Songy.
She is also survived by two grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 5 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church,Algiers, with interment at Westlawn Memorial Park.
PETITDESTREHAN – Odette Troxler Petit, a native of Taft and a resident of Destrehan, died Feb. 4. She was the wife of the late Hypolite A “Pete”Petit and mother of Anne Hymel, Carmelite Clement, Lorraine Forrest and the late Cecil J. Petit.She was also the daughter of the late Charles Troxler and Carmelite Lorio and sister of Inez Schexnaydre and the late Felicien, Charles, Anatole, Olide, Cyrile “Trixie,” Laura and Delia Troxler and the late Elmire Zeringue.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 5 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church,Destrehan, with interment at the church mausoleum.
PIERRENEW ORLEANS – Louise Myrtle Washington Pierre, 87, a native of Convent and a resident of New Orleans, died Jan. 28. She was the wife of the lateArthur Pierre.
She was also the daughter of the late Angell Jones and Isan Washington and the sister of the late Certney Marcelous and John, Willie, Isadore and Leo Washington.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at First Corinthian Baptist Church, NewOrleans, with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.SURGIMETAIRIE – Shirley Joseph “Joe” Surgi, 78, a native of New Orleans and a resident of LaPlace for 15 years, died Feb. 3. He was the father of CherylOliveri and Brian Surgi.
He was also the brother of Ethel Koerkel and Beverly Kraemer.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Tharp-Sontheimer-TharpFuneral Home, Metairie, with interment at Garden of Memories.
