DEAR EDITOR: Does the community not realize that bringing a racetrack will not only be more of a reason for an (Interstate) exit in Reserve but how much revenue it will bring to St. John Parish? It is a known fact that more people attend a racing event than a football, basketball or baseball game. It will bring hotels, restaurants and otherbusinesses. Talk about a generation gap? Racing has become a multi-million dollar industry. Everywhere you look racing is involved insomething.
I don’t know what was the thing to do years ago, but today’s generation is racing and if that is what will bring the most revenue to this parish in years, than so be it.
We had a petition signed and the response was overwhelming. Doesn’t thecommunity think we have enough bars in St. John Parish? I don’t hearanyone saying anything about that. Was there a study on more bars done? There is nothing in this parish for young people to do.
I sure hope that the Parish Council and Mr. Arnold Labat will involve theReserve community in this decision because those of you who are against the racetrack are outnumbered.
