St. Charles captures World Series title

TROY, Ala. – The St. Charles Parish All-Stars refused to give up after an8-0 loss to Tennessee Wednesday night in the Dixie 13-year-olds World Series.
Because of their determination, 24 hours later they became champions.
The All-Stars defeated Tennessee, 8-7, Thursday night in the Series championship game, bringing home the title as the Louisiana representative in the tournament.
Earlier in the day, St. Charles had staved off elimination by defeating hostTroy, 12-9, in nine innings. Kyle Mineo had four hits in four at-bats anddrove in five runs to help key the victory.
The All-Stars had defeated Troy, 14-10, Tuesday night to advance in the winners’ bracket against Tennessee, which they had defeated 8-6 earlier in the tournament.
Members of the All-Stars are Connor Morel, Jared Taylor, Kyle Mineo, Anthony Lee Gordon, Reid Owens, Rustin Rebowe, Antoine Lanaux, Chence Evans, Craig Gaubert, Sebyron Daniels Jr., Joey Bourgeois, Breland Brownand Raymond Joseph Labat III.
The team is coached by Ray Labat II, Lance Brown and Quinn Guidry.
A celebration was planned for the All-Stars at the West Bank Bridge Park upon their return Friday afternoon.
