James D. “Jim” Allen passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2008, at 1:05 a.m. at Canon Hospice. Beloved husband of Linda Allen. Father of Sharon Houser, Randy Stegall, Donna Trinidad and Debbie Helms. Also survived by eight grandchildren , one deceased and 14 great-grandchildren. Son of Ruth Allen and the late Reuben Allen. Brother of Lillian Little and husband Joe, Margie Cross and husband Mike, Steve Allen and wife Laura, Roy Allen and wife Virginia and the late Paul Allen. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Best friend of Buddy Fowler, Randy Pumilla, Rodney Burgess and Bobby Bray. Age 65. A native of North Carolina and a resident of LaPlace for the past 30 yearrs.
Visitation and services were held at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home in LaPlace on Wednesday, October 22. Burial to be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to The St. John Animal Shelter.

Allen Jay “Nonc” Poche Jr. passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at 10:20 p.m., at his residence in Gramercy at age 58. Poche succumbed from complications with diabetes. A native of Hester, La., and resident of Gramercy. He was a supervisor of Boh Bros Construction for 30 years and retired to open Papa Deck’s Fruit Stand in Gramercy. He was of the Catholic faith. Survivors: son, Chad Poche and his wife, Tracy of Lutcher; daughters: Tiffany Chauvin and her husband, Brent of Gramercy, Tessey Petit and her husband, Brian of Hester, Shannon Louviere and her husband, Kenny of Gramercy and Stacy Duplechain and her husband, Corey of Broussard, La.; brother, Robbie Poche Sr. and his wife, Jane of Hester; and grandchildren: Bridget and Brennan Petit, Conner Poche, Austin and Dylan Louviere, Tyler Kliebert and Jacob Chauvin and Aidan Duplechain.
Preceded in death by parents: Allen Poche Sr. and Margaret “Maggie” Poche; grandmother, Myrtle Roussel; and sister, Gwen Bourgeois.
Visitation and services were held Friday, October 31, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Convent. Interment in St. Michael Mausoleum.
Stark
David E. Stark on Friday, October 24, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. Beloved son of the late Robert and Dorothy Stark. Brother of Fred Stark. He was a member of Archbishop Blenk Assembly #318 4th Degree of Knights of Columbus and devoted bingo worker. Age 59 years. A native of New Jersey and a resident of LaPlace for the past 24 years.
Visitation and services were held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in LaPlace on Friday, October 31. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans.

Lurlee Alexander-Green departed this earthly life on Friday, October 24, 2008, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center of Lafayette. Wife of the late Manual Green Sr. Beloved mother/mother-in-law of Betty T. (Eddie) Lewis, Fedra (Kevin) O’Malley, Robert (Denise) Green Sr., Thon L., Audrey L., and Joycelyn Green and the late Faron Sr., and Rita M. Green. Loving sister/sister-in-law of Rev. Vernon (Yvonne) Alexander Sr., Arthur (Alberta) Bailey Sr., and Lawrence (Alma Lee) Bailey Jr. Also survivedby 44 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, one great- great-grandchild, one great-great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation and services were held on Saturday, November 1, at New Vision Missionary Church in LaPlace. Interment in Montz Memorial Cemetery.

Leatrice Townson on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at 10:55 a.m. Beloved wife of the late Freddie Townson. Mother of Darrell Townson and the late Ronald Townson and Sylvia Manley. Grandmother of Dawn, Rhonda, Darrell Jr. and Sarah. Great-grandmother of Brianna, Elijah and Isaiah. Sister of W.A. Jr. and Jimmy Williams, Margaret Blyer, Shirley Eisenhart and Patsy Pritchett. Age 80. A native of Georgia and a resident of St. John Parish for the past 43 years.
Visitation and services were at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home in LaPlace on Monday, November 3. Burial in St. John Memorial Gardens Cemetery in LaPlace.

Brian P. Malbrough entered Eternal Life on Thursday, October 30, 2008, at 4:05 a.m. Beloved husband of Patricia Troxlair Malbrough. Father of Todd Malbrough and wife Cori. Stepfather of Jennifer Scioneaux. Grandfather of Skyler, Abigail, Caden and Ryder. Son of Elaine Malbrough and the late Wilson Malbrough Sr. Brother of Wilson Malbrough Jr. and wife Cindy, Mona Veron and husband Austin and Sharon Murry and husband Ralph. Brother-in-law of Harry Troxlair. Age 58 years. A native of Lutcher and a resident of LaPlace for the past 25 years.
Visitation and services were held at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home in LaPlace on Monday, November 3. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery in Reserve.

Anthony “Ann” Farmer Hitt died on Friday, October 31, 2008, at her residence. A native of Chalmette, she was a home maker. Survived by husband of 22 years, Al Hitt of Luling; sons, Tazz and Zachary Hitt; sisters, Cheryl Barnhart and her husband, Jim of Chalmette, Lucy McCloud and her husband, Michael of Lake Charles and Paulette Farmer of Santa Fe, N.M.; father and mother-in-law, Albert and Rosemary Hitt of Destrehan; brother and sister-in-laws, David and Leslie Gautreaux of Friendswood, Texas, Jeff and Margo Brockman of LaPlace, Eddie and Beth Hitt of LaPlace and Rachael Hitt of Destrehan; nieces and nephews, Jamie Barnhart, Jessica, Katie, Andre and Joshua Gautreaux, Jason and Amanda Brockman, Brady, Alex and Jordan Hitt. Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Joyce Cassidy.
Services were held Monday, November 3, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan with burial following in the St. Charles Cemetery.
